My name is Jessa Boehm. I am a board certified Speech-Language Pathologist. I graduated from Radford University with my Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology and from the University of Missouri with a graduate certificate in Autism and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and am licensed by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and the Pennsylvania State Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology andAudiology . I am a three time recipient of the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE) and a member of the ASHA Special Interest Group 12 - Augmentative and Alternative Communication. I have also presented at the Fairfax County Public Schools Special Education Conference on topics related to AAC and Inclusive Technology Tools for Reading & Writing.
I have over 10 years of experience working with individuals aged birth to 22 in early intervention, public schools, private practice, and outpatient clinics. I have worked with a variety of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, developmental delay, phonological and articulation disorders, and receptive and expressive language disorders. I am a lifelong learner, investing in continuing education and specialized trainings to learn and implement best practices, methods, and new technologies!
I have received extensive training and continuing education in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including but not limited to, LAMP Words for Life, TouchChat, WordPower, Unity, and TobiiDynavox. I have experience conducting AAC evaluations and providing professional development to school teams and families. I collaborate closely with individuals, families, and other professionals to support an individual's communication needs using a holistic approach.
